I was reading this interesting article on how someone can survive and thrive on $12,000 a year. It tells of a recently divorced woman who is bootstrapping to better herself and her family. It really is hard to believe that someone could make it on so little but she really has the iron-will to do it.
This article really shows how a positive attitude and determination can change your world. In a nation full of people asking for hand-outs and excuses this is very refreshing. I know most of you reading this make X times the amount of money as she does but may still feel poor or that there is not enough. Maybe this will inspirer you to take a look at your own finances and look at what you do have, instead of what you don’t.
She seems to know that many discounts and coupons are not advertised. Many people don’t need coupons because all they do is simple ask for a discount and receive an even better deal. It is pretty amazing that she never paid for toothpaste, shampoo or toiletries for years. Wow, I thought I was getting a lot of stuff for free. She also seems to use stackable coupons and rebate coupons for even greater savings.
“Money is just an idea”
Personally I like the part where she talks about “Announcing my intentions” and trusting the universe to provide. That part may be hard for many people to swallow but I fully believe it just that myself. Also by giving $20 a month she feels rich even though she may not have much. You can tell that her “being” is that of a rich person. I look forward to reading a follow up to this story.
Just a quick recommendation for everyone out there. I recently watched this really interesting movie called “The Secret” and thought it was excellent. It is about how to tap into the secret of unlimited health, money, relationships, love and everything you ever wanted. The concepts and lessons in this movie really are priceless. If you have the chance I would recommend watching it.
