Yup you read that right, in Anderson, Alaska they are giving away 26 1.3-acre lots for free. There is a kicker to get Anderson, Alaska free land, you have to build a 1,000-square-foot house within two years and pay a $500 deposit. Not a bad deal but then again your living in Alaska and the town of Anderson has a population of about 300, no gas station, no grocery store or traffic lights. Their high school basketball team had to go coed because there wasn’t enough people. I’m sure it must be a beautiful place though.
Real Estate really is about supply and demand. The idea to give away the land actually came from a local high school class and people from all across the US have been sending in applications for this lottery. Here is something pretty interesting, the town of Anderson has no property taxes, no state income tax or sales tax, virtually no crime or traffic.
