Saving Landscapes with FreeCycle.org
"One Mans Junk is another mans treasure"
FreeCycle.org was founded May 2003, which was established to foster reduction of waste in the downtown of Tucson, Arizona, and help save the landscape of the desert encapsulated by the landfills. FreeCycle offers non-profit entities and individuals a forum that’s electronic to “recycle” items that are not wanted. According to the adage, one’s trash can be a treasure for another.
Members of the Free Cycle.org local group can receive a new email when someone wants to give away a piano, fax machine, an old door or chair, or any other item provided. If you’re looking for an item to obtain, you can respond to an offer from another member. The giver actually decides who receives the offering and arranges time for pickup in relinquishing the treasure. Every item posted on Free Cycle.org has to be legal, suitable for every age, and at no cost.
Incorporated for a Non Profit Entity
Non-profit entities also can take advantage of Free Cycle.org. You can post the merchandise you desire to relinquish and be specific in stating how you want the gift to be allocated to a cause that’s non-profit. It’s wholly up to the individual in a free giving cycle. Free Cycle.org is incorporated for non-profit and tax exempt ruled under the Internal Revenue Services.
FreeCycle.org is available to all individuals and communities that desire to participate. Global volunteers that facilitate every local group—for the grassroots effect, regulate Free Cycle groups. Like every other website on the Internet, Free Cycle.org warns members to take caution in matters to secure one’s privacy and safety in the posting of group lists or in the completion of offering a gift with other members.
Free Cycle.org provides a list for free cycling, as you agree to not to have anyone accountable—whether it’s moderators or owners—for liabilities in relation to communication or giving. Saving precious resources, reducing waste and diminishing the woes linked to landfills enables members to take advantage of the strength of an increasing community.
I am a member of Colorado Springs Free cycle. I have a friend who is also a member and she cannot get on the site. Is there anyone she can call regarding this problem. She signs in and it says that name is taken. What can she do? Thanks
You probably must create another account and use an original member ID. Good luck.
there are so many places to go for freecycle.org am confused.
would like to find for my husband, 6’2″, an infinite position lift chair. He is very limited in motion and desperately needs a comfortable chair, but we cannot afford the high prices for these expensive chairs. Even if it has damaged fabric, can repair it.
Mechnism needs to be fair, 2 motors for infinite position for him to be able to relax, but can fix these too, if not too bad.
He has arthritis since 1965 and very limited in his mobility.
Can you steer me in the right direction, please. Would appreciate this immensely. We are in Sebring, Florida
Ursula
I am not familiar with a lift chair but I would give ebay.com a try. If not it wouldn’t hurt to do a posting on Craigslist.
I live in Saint Ignatius Mt.59865 and can’t find any sites for freecycle.org in my area. Is it possible to start freecycle.org in this area? Please let me know. Thank you Virginia Holt
Virginia you would have to email FreeCycle.org about that. I’m sure they must be adding more cities to their database.
