Walmart Toyland PhotoA Land Of Dreams For Children

Walmart, the world’s leading toy retailer, is also the most innovative when it comes to offering the most imaginative and fascinating toys to children. Introduced by Walmart in the holiday season of the year 2006 at the fifth annual Toy Wishes Holiday Preview in New York, Walmart Toyland is a magical land, built by the renegade elves Wally and Marty who were also introduced for the first time at the sneak preview of Walmart’s Toyland. These renegade elves are a pair of 3-D animated elves, who also run the show at the walmart.com Toyland microsite. The Walmart Toyland is an imaginary land where the most fascinating toys that most children dream about are tested and built.

Come-On Children, Build Your ‘Wish List’ In The Land Of Your Dreams

The superbly interactive microsite, Walmart.com Toyland is the site where the renegade elves, Wally and Marty come alive and take children on a magical journey where children they discover the toys of their dreams and also build their ‘Toyland wish list’ of the toys that they covet the most. Wally and Marty are the builders as well as the guardians of this amazing Toyland. The microsite enables the children to build the wish list of the toys and email it to their parents. Every time a child selects a toy to be added to the wish list, his action is applauded by the elves with claps and loud cheers. On the contrary a rejection is greeted by the complaint of the elves that they will soon be out of job.

Building a wish list at Walmart.com Toyland is really easy for kids as they do not require a registration and the microsite is set up like a user friendly game that makes it really easy for smaller children.

The Wish List May Sometimes Be Bigger Than Your Parent’s Pockets

This dreamland is surely not expected to have a fairy tale ending.Walmart.com Toyland has relieved a lot of flak from several groups who claim that the microsite encourages children to ‘nag’ their parents by helping them build wish lists of toys that their parents cannot afford to buy for them. Also, the prices of the toys are not included with their pictures. This has forced many groups to opine that the venture is a very clever marketing strategy by the Walmart group. Many have demanded that the Walmart.com Toyland site should be shut down permanently.

Everything may not be hunky dory in this fantastic Toyland, but the microsite surely gives a child a lot to dream about.  Surely, even children realize that all dreams do not come true. As this article goes into print, the Walmart.com Toyland has been closed down.
