McDonald's is putting its powerful weight behind the frozen drink trend that is already popular through Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. I haven't tried McDonald's versions of smoothies and frappes but with a dollar off, it's worth a taste – and you can find a McDonald's just about anywhere.

Remember the recent Starbucks frappuccino "frappy hour" promotion? Well, now they figure you need some cool tunes to go with that refreshing beverage (or whatever you prefer to drink). Here’s a printable coupon for Starbucks Free Pastry Day, Tuesday, March 23. Buy a "handcrafted beverage" (i.e. one they make up fresh, not a bottled beverage) and choose a delicious pastry such as a danish, croissant, etc. for free. The offer is only good until 10:30 a.m. at participating Starbucks, so make sure you get there early.
Not only is this pastry free, it’s also free in another sense – Starbucks says their recipes are now free of artificial flavors and dyes, and do not contain high-fructose corn syrup. So it’s a little more wholesome and healthy, though we feel obligated to point out they didn’t remove the sugar and fat from the pastry. But hey, sometimes we just want a buttery, flaky croissant or a sweet cinnamon-y roll with our coffee.

I can stop by 2 Starbucks on my way to work and sample each bar. These could help with my New Years Resolution to lose weight and eat healthier. I could eat these KIND bars for breakfast and my snack of the day. There are like 5 Starbucks within 7 miles of my home. I could go to each one and get a free bar to save for another day.

McDonald’s is offering free unlimited Wi-Fi internet access at your nearest McDonald’s restaurant. It used to be $2.95 for 2 hours, but not anymore. In over 11,000 restaurants, there is Wi-Fi access. AT&T is McDonald’s Internet Service Provider (ISP). Click here to find your nearest McDonald’s with Wi-Fi access.
I think this is McDonalds competing with Starbucks and Coffee Bean. At Starbucks, you have to register a Starbucks Card to access Wi-Fi and Coffee Bean, you have to buy a drink. McDonalds makes McCafe coffee drinks to diversify from just burgers and fries. I can’t wait to try this out when I travel to California and need to access my email. I can get Chicken McNuggets and Fries, while I watch video on You Tube.

I found a Saeco Nina Cappuccino/Espresso machine that is $179.99, compared to $250, but with the discount it could come out to less than $100. That is 60% Off retail price. I can stop going to Starbucks and Coffee Bean to get my espresso fix. I would save over $5 each trip and each month would save over $100. Using this machine would pay for itself in 2 months.

Free Starbucks Pastry Day
Get a free Starbucks pastry with any drink purchase. Pastry choices include pretty much everything in the case except cookies and brownies. Only one free pastry per customer, not per drink.
