Low-priced retailer Steve & Barry’s began liquidation sales of its 173 remaining stores across the country are this week; the sales are expected to last five to seven weeks, with some stores closing sooner.  The chain filed for bankruptcy in July.  Originally, they planned to keep some stores open but thanks to the poor economy, all their stores will close after selling off their inventory.  Steve + Barry’s has several popular celebrity clothing lines by Stephon Marbury, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Venus Williams.

I decided to check out my local Steve + Barry’s and the prices are ridiculously low.  For example, they have racks full of items at two for $8.  I found a beautiful pair of holiday-worthy red velveteen shoes for a mere $3.49, and a couple of nice t-shirts for only $2.09 apiece.  So I was able to do some very thrifty holiday shopping there.  Keep in mind, no checks accepted; cash or credit cards only.
